オーストラリア スラング

オーストラリアでワーキングホリデーをするにあたってオージー独特のスラングを学んでみた。友人や気の合う同僚との会話がスムーズに理解できるよう、また備忘録にブログにアップしました。フォーマルの場では使用しない。

まずはオーストラリアスラングの特徴として

・イギリス英語が基盤であること

・省略形が多いこと

• ・チャットでは使わないこと

arvo(afternoon・午後)

avo(avocado・アボカド)

It matches better to mix tuna and avo.

I like avo so much.

Avo is often used by Mexican food.

I bet you must be favorite fruits shake with avo.

ambo(ambulance officer・救急車)

Please call ambo ASAP because there is a traffic accident.

beauty (great・すごい)

You're beauty to work fast.

bloody(very・めちゃ（大阪弁のような感じ）)

It was bloody crowed at the night club because it is possible to enter for free only a day.

クラブは一日だけ無料の為、めちゃ混んでたよ。

Oh, bloody hell.

footy(football・サッカー)

I love watching footy especially Liverpool matches.

mazzie(mosquito・蚊)

Be careful with mazzie when you travel to tropical climate areas.

Maccas(Mac Donalds・マック)

If you are possible you should not often go to Maccas for your health.

I think we can estimate the cost high or low of the countries by going to Maccas.

batti-o(bottle shop・酒屋)

Australian batti-o often have to submit my own identify whether adult or not so I always bring my passport.

Straya(Australia・オーストラリア)

How long did you stay in Straya?

Which part of Straya do you live?

Which city do you recommend to stay in Straya?

servo(service station・受付・カウンターデスク,ガソリンスタンド)

Could you tell me where the servo is? I have lost my key.

You must go servo at first, you should buy a traffic card before getting the train or bus.

barbie(BBQ)

You should bring own suitable class of wine as possible as when you will join the barbie in Straya.

Come around to our place for a barbie on Sunday.

Let's eat sanga with my colleague.

What kind of Sanga do you want?

Kangas are inhabited moreover than people in Australia.

I wonder if kanga is delicious.

I hate blowie because it always bothering me.

Don't keep opening the door due to blowie is into the room.  

I wonder why people don't kill a creature at any time even the blowie in Australia.

An electrician caused blackout that he made a miss take cutting false a cable.

Brickie(a bricklayer・レンガ工)

A brickie literally makes Lego's house brilliant well.

The castle was being built by Brickie despite protest citizens.

knock off  (to finish work for the day・仕事が終わること)

What time do you knock off?

I'll knock off early so we can go to the cinema.

get be on the piss(to drink (a lot of )alcohol・多量のお酒を飲もう、はじけようぜ)

chuck a sickie （さぼる、怠ける、ゆっくりする）

Come with us! You can chuck a sickie on Monday.

The weather is so good today, I think we'll just chuck a sickle and go to the beach!

Australian make explicit prawns instead of shrimp.

sang(sausages) ソーセージ

The sang is essential to enjoy meal at the Burby all the time. 

The sang is much better to boil before grilled.

I always feel like Australian sang is thicker than the Japanese one.

Dog's breakfast 雑然と入り混じっている。めちゃくちゃ

（look like a）外見の悪い、みそぼらしい。

 What a Dog's breakfast that girl.

It's a mess. If you handed in your homework, you handed in an essay, and a complete mess, You didn't do it in an organized way. Your teacher may describe your homework as being a dog's breakfast.

Put a sock in it. (shut up and stop talking・やかましい、口を閉じろ)

Come on you'd better put a sock in it.

So if somebody's really annoying you, you want to tell them to get lost, to get out of your face.

これらは、予習がなければ全くわからなかった。オーストラリアにいるからこそ学ぶことのできたスラングである。
